The electrochemistry of glassy Cr70B30 and microcrystalline chromium has been studied relative to conventionally processed chromium. Alloy structure is shown to play a tertiary role in the properties of these homogeneous materials. In contrast, alloying with boron leads to a dramatic increase in corrosion resistance. This is due to the fact that Cr70B30, unlike pure chromium, cannot be activated in 1 M H2SO4. © 1988.
