Experiments on literally two-dimensional magnets

A review is given of experiments on a magnetic material that is a single layer of magnetic ions. Mn stearate deposited by the Langmuir-Blodgett technique. Magnetic monolayers produced by condensation of magnetic gases are briefly surveyed. Some comparisons with the theory of 2D magnetism are made. © 1984.
