Visual perception in design of virtual displays was presented. A stereoscopic display was used for testing two classes of competing theories related to moon illusion. The scaling of depth at long distances was provided by oculomotor cues operating at near distances. Methods of display design so as to enable presentation of information at different optical distances were suggested. © 2001 SPIE.
