The coupled-phonon-magnetoplasmon-type surface polaritons at n-InSb-air interfaces are studied optically using the attenuated-total-reflection method in the configuration with a magnetic field oriented perpendicular to the sagittal plane. These data are in good agreement with theory exhibiting nonreciprocal behavior, virtual-excitation modes, and bulk-loss modes. Differences between theory and experiment are attributed to surface effects, which indicates that surface-polariton experiments may be useful in detailed studies of these effects. © 1975 The American Physical Society.
