On being a student of John Reynolds

The editors of this volume asked me to put together a description of what it was like to be a Ph.D. student of John C. Reynolds. With the assistance of his other students, this is exactly what I have done. I have asked each of them to contribute their reminiscences on what it was like to work with John, to describe how they came to know John, and to say whatever they would like about how John affected their lives. These contributions will be found below, ordered by the year that each student formally finished his studies. All in all, this piece serves to document the very positive effect that working under John had for those of us lucky enough to work under him. © 2007.
