I will discuss our recent investigations of cyclocarbons by means of scanning tunneling micros-copy (STM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Cyclocarbons, molecular carbon allotropes consisting of a ring of two-fold coordinated carbon atoms, have been synthesized on surface using tip-induced chemistry [1-3], and the formation of larger cyclocarbons by dimerization of precursors was shown [3]. This talk will focus on the generation and investigation of large cy-clocarbons.
