Linear Algebra and Its Applications
We propose and analyze a class of algorithms for the generation of curves and surfaces. These algorithms encompass some well-known methods of subdivision for Bernstein-Bézier curves (de Casteljau's algorithm) and B-spline curves (Lane and Riesenfeld's algorithm). Several results concerning properties of the limiting curves as well as related questions are discussed. © 1989.
